Nuggets at Pelicans player grades
The Denver Nuggets were defeated by the New Orleans Pelicans, falling to 3-9 on the road this season.
The Denver Nuggets continue to struggle on this road trip. After a terrible loss to the Dallas Mavericks the other night, they lost a somewhat close battle with the New Orleans Pelicans.
It is now getting to the point where fans are not even wanting to watch road games since Denver is so bad away from the Pepsi Center.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans took advantage of Denver’s obvious current weakness in the paint without their two stars, Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic. The result? 40 points and 22 rebounds for Demarcus Cousins on the night. What is embarrassing is Anthony Davis did not even play in this game and Denver still got bullied in the paint.
While Gary Harris did his best with his offensive prowess to keep the team in the game, his match up, Jrue Holliday, had one of his best nights of the year. Holliday lit up the Nuggets’ defense for 27 points including seven assists.
Gary Harris still had a decent game as he was the high point man for Denver tallying 24 points. Harris also had four assists and shot a higher percentage from deep (42.9%) than his regular field goal percentage (42.1%).
The Nuggets better hope they get Nikola Jokic back soon because they are quickly sliding down the Western Conference standings. They only lost by nine points, but with a tough stretch of games coming up later this month, they are blowing this opportunity to pad their record.
Instead, they are making harder on themselves than it needs to be which could come back to bite them around the start of the playoffs.
The Denver Nuggets will look to cure some of their woes in Orlando on December 8 as they battle the young and budding Magic.
