The miserable season for the Chicago Bulls continues on Wednesday night with a matchup in Indianapolis against the Indiana Pacers.
Tonight the Chicago Bulls take their nine game losing streak into Indianapolis to face the Indiana Pacers. At 13-11, and seventh in the Eastern Conference, the Pacers have been one of the bigger surprises in the NBA this season.
Victor Oladipo has been the face of the Pacers surprising season. He leads the Pacers in scoring at 23 per game, and is doing so extremely efficiently; he has a true shooting percentage of 59 percent.
Free agent addition Bojan Bogdanovic has stretched the floor so bigs like Myles Turner, Thaddeus Young, and Domantas Sabonis can operate inside. Darren Collison, in his first season back with the Pacers after being drafted by them, has provided unspectacular, yet mistake-free play at point guard.
All of this has turned into the Pacers ranking sixth in the NBA in offensive efficiency, after finishing just 15th last season with Paul George at the helm.
For the Bulls, Kris Dunn is trending up in what has been an otherwise very up-and-down season. In his past four games, Dunn is averaging 16 points and 6 assists per game. Perhaps more importantly (definitely more importantly), he’s 55 percent from the floor, 61 percent from deep, and has an assist-to-turnover ratio a shade over two.
The defenses that Dunn has faced have been bad, to say the least. Not only did he go up against the two worst defensive teams in the league by points allowed per 100 possessions (Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings), but neither of the other two teams (Cleveland Cavaliers or Denver Nuggets) rank in the top 20. Indiana, at 19th, isn’t much better.
Dunn showing flashes that he’s a solid NBA point guard is still a good thing, regardless of the opponent. So keep an eye on him in this game.
For the Chicago Bulls: Nikola Mirotic (concussion and maxillary fractures), Zach LaVine (Left ACL), and Cameron Payne (Right foot) are all out for tonight’s game. LaVine didn’t travel with the team. Kay Felder was assigned to the Windy City Bulls. Two player Antonio Blakeney also is with the Windy City Bulls.
For the Indiana Pacers: Corey Joseph is questionable due to a sore left shoulder.
