If there is anything that the Brooklyn Nets have proven this week, it is that they are the best team in New York after their second win in a row against their intrastate rival, the New York Knicks.
The Brooklyn Nets still haven’t quite proven that they are a force to be reckoned with, but they have, at the very least, proven that they are the best team in New York right now. Since the All-Star break, the Nets have found four wins, which is a lot for how they have played this season, and two of those wins have been against the Knicks. Their wins bring their season series to an even 2-2 and their all-time record to 93-94.

Aside from the Knicks, the Nets have continued to struggle, especially in the face of potential playoff teams, which was most of their last week.
Against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Nets actually managed to keep up with them for the first half of their game, but fell short after a weak second half. Their struggles to keep up with teams in the second half had been a common problem up to that point, but their fortunes changed after their loss at home to the Thunder.
More from Nothin’ But Nets
In the rest of their week, the Nets were a team that couldn’t be productive in the first half of games, trailing after the first two quarters of every game for the rest of the week. Their second half dominance sent them above the Knicks, but they fell just short of the number 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics, and then the Dallas Mavericks.
This week will be a tough one, but they should have an easier time than they did last week. If only Jeremy Lin can find his way back onto the court.
