The last 2 seasons for the Boston Celtics have been wild to say the least. The Celtic defeated the favored Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals in 08′ for the Celtics 17th championship. In 09′ – while the Celtics didn’t repeat as champions – they did give all something would remember for a very long time, a trilling 7 game series with the Chicago Bulls in the first round. The Celtics showed why they are champions, when it seemed the Bulls had them beat the Celtics would always come back.
If the Celtics had a healthy Kevin Garnett there is no reason they could not repeat as champions – the Celtics nearly beat the Orlando Magic without Garnett in the second round. The “Big Three” for the Celtics – Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are not getting any younger so this could be one of the last seasons the Celtics have a legitimate chance at winning the title
Rasheed Wallace joins the Celtics after a disappointing season with the Detroit Pistons. This might also be one of the last seasons Rasheed Wallace has a chance to win a NBA title – he is 35 years old and in NBA years that’s much older. In the 08′-09 Wallace only averaged 12 points per game – his lowest scoring averages since his rookie year in 95′-96′.
Glen “Big Baby” Davis has his best season in 09′ making a game winning shot against the Orlando Magic in the second round. Davis will have to continue to improve his game if the Celtics expect to make another serious playoff push.
The Boston Celtics might not be the predominant favorite coming out of the Eastern Conference – they surely will be a contender all season and will give any team a challenge once playoff time comes around.
