National Ministry of Design created this new look for the in-stadium graphics for the 2014/15 Boston Celtics. The “Dunkfest” design debuted at the TD Garden during the season home opener on October 29th.
Our client wanted to have the city itself play a big part in the design, so we combined our famous landmarks into collages (The Prudential Center, the Zakim Bridge), along with basketball lines and fun splats of color.
Besides full screens, windows and lower thirds, we also designed for the Jumbotron and LEDs. These unusual formats – such as 12,528 pixels wide x 32 pixels high – present very unique design challenges. NMD designed animation/sound synced LEDs showcasing the Celtics’ name, logo and shamrocks that surrounded the stadium and pumped up the crowd when shown simultaneously with the Celtics intro video.
It was a real privilege to design for the home team and to be a part of lighting up our beloved TD (Boston) Garden.
